Newbie Project #11: Traffic Filtering
|
This project is based on
traffic filtering. Although as with many things on the net, there is not an
exact formula that works for everyone, the basics will be presented.
Here is my definition of traffic filtering:
Traffic Filtering - the
act of separating incoming general traffic group into specific traffic groups
with a specific purpose.
Hub sites can be a very important part in
the filtering process. We have a project that was done previously on hub pages
here http://www.adultnetsurprise.com/newbiezone/projects_9.phtml that might help
explain them a bit more thoroughly. A hub page is basically a site or page that
is built as a menu with specific paths for certain styles of traffic to follow.
There are three basic styles of traffic filtering in my opinion
(although there are many variations possible). Also remember that all or any of
the below can be combined into one process or individual process depending on
your own personal taste and building style.
By potential value: This type of filtering
is based on the potential income by program type.
There are different ways to set this up but the
main idea is to get traffic to go where you want it to by value! You can have
the hub pages send the traffic to specific sites that are built towards a
certain higher paying sponsor or you can combine multiple sponsors ranging in
value in one site. For example, you could have a high paying sponsor on the
index and top of the main page. Then a medium paying sponsor on the bottom of
the main page and on top of the gallery pages with a lower paying sponsor
towards the bottom of the gallery pages and on a links page if your site has
one. ( Note the second all in one site method does not rely as heavily on a hub
page as much as the dedicated sponsor by income sites do. )
By Niche: This type is based on offering
the surfer something within their niche with side offers of things even more
niche orientated offerings of the same basic style.
The basis for this structure is rather simple. You
start off by getting traffic routed to a specific niche. Then as a secondary
link or path, you would have a micro niche (one within the same niche but more
specific) This process would then be repeated again for a third area or even
more of a micro niche. An example of this would be to have your first site/link
go to a lesbian sponsor. The next site/link would go to big boobed lesbians and
then the third site/link would go to blonde, big boobed lesbians.
By specific traffic purpose: When using
this style, the focus is on the purpose of the traffic itself. This purpose can
be from anything like toplist use, traffic trades or even routing to another
site for selling purposes.
When filtering by traffic, remember that the text
link carries a lot of value. How you present or word the links will have a
direct effect on how many clicks it gets. Equally, these text links can be the
"divider" as far as figuring out which traffic to send where. For example, a
text link that says something like "more free porn" here will get a lower
quality traffic as compared to a text link that says "more premium sites here"
By having these differences in the link titles, you can filter the lower
quality traffic to toplists while keeping the better traffic for direct link
exchanges and so forth.
In Closing:
Now, as I mentioned
above, all of these techniques can be combined into whatever combination suits
you and your traffic. Equally, a single site can serve as the hub page as
listed in the graphics above. So, for example, you could build one free site
that combines the niches (advertise your main sponsor niches by way of a full
page ad where you can then place the micro niches as another avenue for the
surfer to follow) with the by value method (simply make the first full page ad
the higher paying site and go down from there) as well as having a "cheap" exit
link that uses that traffic for the a toplist site. AS you can see, this would
combine all three methods on one single site. The opportunities are truly
endless on how to utilize your own filtering styles.
This project also
has it's own thread called "Traffic Filtering Project #11" located here:
http://www.adultnetsurprise.com/message-board/newbieboard/
This thread
will contain discussions as well as have example sites posted to it by all the
participating members. Remember that if you have a question, the only way for
it to be answered is to ask it! That's what the Newbie Board is all about,
asking questions, getting answers and learning from all the other newbie boards
members. Participation benefits yourself as well as everyone else that chooses
to patronize this area.
For all the possible tools, information as
well as sponsors that you might need, please go to http://www.adultnetsurprise.com/ and look on that page as you will find almost anything you need listed there!
