The biggest difference is that you are given a unique linking code that keeps track of the hits sent in (and sometimes hits out). Some of these lists only show sites that are sending traffic while others also have a "links page" that will show all sites that are using that list. Filtering - This consists of making sure the recip links generate the correct amount of traffic that is needed for certain positioning on the list and not to send more hits than what is needed to any one particular toplist.
