Chrome Effect Lettering in Photoshop using EyeCandy 3 Filters

Welcome to our first tutorial on using EyeCandy 3 filters for Photoshop!

Open a new image in Photoshop, 300 pixels wide by 200 pixels high, we want a white background so check the 'White Background' box under 'Contents'.

Next, using a heavy looking font, in our example we've used Microgramma, and type some text to apply your chrome effect to... Important: When using these filters on a font, it will not remain editable like when you apply a Photoshop Effect.

Then, we need to rasterize the text layer before we apply our filter... go to the Layers menu (Window > Show Layers), right click on your text layers name and select 'Rasterize'. You should have something like our example below:

We'll apply a HSB Noise filter to liven the flat color... go to the Filters menu at the top of the screen and select, Eye Candy, then HSB Noise... enter the values below:

Now we can apply our Chrome Effect by using Eye Candy's Inner Bevel filter... Go to the Filters menu at the top of the screen and select Eye Candy, then Inner Bevel. This works similar to the Photoshop Effect 'Bevel and Emboss' but creates very different effects... Enter the values below to create an awesome 'Shiny Chrome Effect'... Note, for the desired effect, you may need to adjust the Bevel Width depending on the font you use.
