Different Effects with Brushes
by BarryHilton, Adult NetSurprise
In this tutorial we'll be
looking at getting more from your brushes... simple changes that can have a big
effect on your brush strokes, allowing for more creative designs!
We'll
be editing some of the Airbrushes... so first, select the Airbrush Tool from
the main tool bar. Then click the downarrow next to the currently selected
brush on the Brush Options menu (if you can't see it, go to the Window drop
down menu and select Show Options)... You should see the menu
below...

Click on the 21 brush and draw a line on your image, this
will give you a solid line (the standard Airbrush)... like our example
below...

Now, we'll edit this basic brush... go to the Brush
Options menu again and click on the little down arrow to bring up the menu
above... Select the 21 brush again, then click on the arrow pointing right and
select New Brush from the menu... This will make a copy of the 21 brush and
bring up the menu below...

Now, alter the spacing to 50%, click OK then
draw a line on your image... This time you don't get a solid line, but a series
of 'dots' like in our example below...

Next, repeat the
steps above, only this time select the brush you just made, it will be added at
the bottom of the brush selector menu... This time change the spacing to 100%,
for more spaced out dots... Draw a line on your image and you'll have something
like our example below...

Next, repeat the steps above selecting the 100% spacing
brush you just made, it will be added at the bottom of the brush selector
menu... Change the Hardness to 50% to create a less blurred 'dot', making a
brush stroke like our example below...

Now, try again,
this time changing the Hardness to 100%... You'll have a brush like our example
below...

As you can see you can make many diffefrent effects with
just one starting brush! Experiment with some of the other brushes or even make
up your own for some awesome effects quickly and simply!!!
