Getting Surfers to Your Sites
Team Netsurprise Tutorial :: www.adultnetsurprise.com
OK...so you've built your site, added some banners,
content and even a few little extras. Now you need to get some surfers to your
site. Surfers = Money and that's definitely something you want!
There are several different ways to go about getting these warm bodies
to your site. Every webmaster has his own preference about what works best, but
like everything else in this industry it's best to try a little bit of
everything until you find what works for you.

TGPs - Thumbnail Gallery Posts traditionally
bring in bucket-loads of traffic to your website. If you sign on with one of
the big boys you could very well be saying hello to a HUGE bandwith bill! Be
warned!
Most freehosts do not allow use of TGPs for traffic on
their sites because of this huge amount of traffic. It would put them out of
business in a heart beat. Some do but those are few and far between.
A
TGP is set up so that webmasters submit a gallery of thumbnailed sized pics.
Each TGP has it's own rules about how things are run. Most have a minimum
number of pics required (like 10-20 or more). Some say you can link your full
sized pic on an HTML page (where you can add banners and make money) and others
say you must link directly to the image (no ads for you). Make sure that you
check out all the rules BEFORE submitting or you could get yourself blacklisted
from the source.
Some webmasters LOVE this TGP traffic and others hate
it. It's all in how you look at it. Some say that being able to convert this
type of traffic is almost an art form - it takes skill, knowledge and
experience. Others say TGP traffic is a waste of time and they won't even touch
it. Like everything else in this business - you should try it out for yourself
and be your own judge. Just be prepared for the TON of traffic that will be
coming your way!
Pic Posts - Pic Posts are similar to TGPs in
that you get a load of traffic overnight. You need to be ready for all this
traffic and know how to convert it before signing on with the bigger pic posts.
Most freehosts also do not accept Pic Post traffic. Make sure you read the
rules before sing them.
A
pic post page is sort of set up like your average full size pic page. It's a
way of giving a preview to surfers of what they can expect on your site.
Webmasters usually think up taunting, teasing titles for their pages to be
listed among a list of other links on the Pic Post site. These pages usually
include a banner for a targeted sponsor, a text link and sometimes even a
traffic exchange banner like Sex Swap that will help the webmaster to get even
more traffic.
Like with the TGP traffic you need to know what kind of
surfers you are getting, really target that niche that you are trying to sell
and be slick about it so that you still get listed on the Pic Post. Lots of
different things to consider and balance. But like everything, it's definitely
worth a try. Who knows? You may just have a natural knack for Pic Post
traffic.
Top Lists - If you love a challenge then Top
Lists are for you! Webmasters call use of this traffic source "Playing the Top
Lists". It's sort of like playing your odds and traffic skills against the
other sites listed in the source. Each webmaster sends in as much traffic as
possible in order to retain the TOP SPOT on the listing.
Some top lists are niche oriented - like "Top 50
Lesbian Sites" or "Top 100 Fetish Sites". Use these topic oriented lists to
your advantage. Really target those sites in order to maximize your conversion
ratio. Check out what others already using the top list have listed. Do
something different, bizarre, outrageous or eye-catching. Get a good banner
ready for when you get that top spot and make sure you have an equally
stimulating text link for moving up the ranks.
Most traffic lists are upfront about who is sending in
what traffic. A simple IN and OUT column will tell you how much traffic was
sent in order to get that top listing and how much traffic went out from the
top list to that site. The advantages to having the top spot will be clear.
Lots of traffic gets moved through these top list sites.
Most freehosts allow top list traffic but read the
rules to make sure. Also, keep an eye on your traffic to make sure you don't
get an overload of bandwith bills. Like TGPs and PicPosts you need to learn how
to manipulate this traffic to do what you want and to maximize your earning
potential. Also, check out your competition's websites to see how they work the
traffic. That will give you some hints on what areas convert best and sales
tips for getting your surfers to click those banners and links.
Link Lists - Link lists can be a new webmaster's
best friend. Link lists are easy to get listed on - IF you follow their rules.
Link lists can provide LOTS of targeted traffic and converts much better than
TGP, Pic Post and Top List traffic with a minimum of effort. A link back is
required for 95% of all link lists. Most want this to be either on your index
page or your main gallery page.
Like with the top lists, the more categorized and
specific a link list is, the better your traffic can be. Most link lists have
you choose what category your site will be listed under. Amateur, Anime, Babes,
Cumshots, Ethnic, Fetish, Gay, Hardcore, Lesbian, Oral, Porn Stars, Toys,
Tranny and Voyeur are some of the common basic niches that are listed on your
average link list. Other links lists really go all out in the category
department. This can be advantageous for you because it allows you to sort of
"pre-qualify" your traffic and provide the surfers with hard sale pitches to
their niche of choice.
Some link list sites give a bomb of traffic in the
first few days and then whittle off to practically nothing. Others give a
steady trail of traffic over a longer period as long as your recip link is
giving back traffic to their site. There is sometimes a minimum requirement to
remain listed so again, make sure you check each individual site's rules. Some
sites also allow you to send in updated versions of your sites so it can be to
your advantage to update those old sites even if only for this
purpose.
