Back To Basics! This project is basically a
refresher and overview of some ofthe previous projects that we have already
done. One should never overlook someof the basic concepts of site building, as
well as basic marketing and sales techniques.
This project seeks to involve both new
webmasters as well as more experienced ones.Though it is always good to try new
things and experiment with new ideas. Everything stillbasically evolves from
the basics of site building and webmastering.
Having both newbie's as well as more
experienced webmasters involved in a site building project can serve to both
teach the new webmaster as well as possibly resharpen the basic skillsof the
more experienced webmasters - each sharing there feedback and ideas while
helping one another.
As the project title implies "Back To
Basics" - we will be building a regular free site. That of which will consist
of a entrance/warning page - a mainpage - and 2 - 10 pic gallerys. And we will
also incorporate doorway pages for multiple linking. Past projects that we have
already done can help you with this one as well. They can serve as excellent
reference materials, as well as reading up on articles in the learning zonehttp://www.adultnetsurprise.com/learningzone/
Also - keeping with the "Back To Basics"
concept, we will strive to keepa "theme" and "focus" to the site as well as
target our traffic and guide them to their interest.I hope you have fun, learn,
and maybe even come up with new ideas for the future too.
Project outline... The first thing that
participants will need to do is decide on the "niche" for the site. In our past
projects as well as correspondence that you may have seen on the Newbie
Board. It is usually best to shoot for a "specific" market. Things like
"cheerleader" vice general teen. Things like "big titts" vice pornstars,
etc...
Once you have established what niche you
wish to do then we must think about the "flow" of the site. Everything starts
from the entrance. This is the first place the surfer comes to and it starts
the "setup" and "feel" of the site. While deciding on titles, writing text,
etc... one must be sure that everything corresponds with each other and has a
"logical flow" to it so as not to loose the surfer's attention. You don't want
to start saying one thing (say on the mainpage) then lose them by going off on
something else on gallery one.
Page designs: Most link lists allow for 3
exiting links per page. This also includes the entrance. Many lose out on the
opportunity to send surfer's to the sponsor off the entrance. They tend to
think they must readily let the surfer into their sites. This is not always the
case. For this project we will make use of the 3 links per page rule (an "exit"
link on the entrance will count as 1 of the 3 by the way).
I'm not going to elaborate much on page
design because this project will be done by both new webmasters as well as
those more experienced. A "joint" effort - if you will :) Therefore the more
experienced webmasters know what I mean by the 3 links and can help design the
pages accordingly.
This project doesn't have as much to do
with me telling you what to do as it does with what YOU can come up with as a
good basic themed and focused free site. We have our past projects as well as
the learning zone to help assist you. And as always -post any questions that
you may have on the Newbie Board!
OVERVIEW
So in a nutshell here's what we are doing step-by-step.
Step 1: Pick
your niche and make an entrance page which sets up the feel and theme of the
site. The description that you plan on using for the link list as well as the
entrance page is what will start the "setup" and "theme" of your site. You will
also be taking advantage of the 3 links per page rule to promote a sponsor.
Step 2: Build a mainpage which continues the flow of the site to maintain
your surfer's interest and attention. Take advantage of the 3 links rule and
focus on gaining your surfer's attention to the advertising vice a quick way to
get to the gallery links.
Step 3: Design your gallerys - once again
taking advantage of the rules. Keep a flow to the site so as not to lose your
surfer's attention. Provide links back to the mainpage but not from gallery to
gallery. This gives you the opportunity for one or two more ad views on the
mainpage.
Note: The mainpage and the last gallery are excellent places
to take advantage of using alternative links in case your surfer isn't
interested in what you are promoting.
FINAL
After sites are finished they will then be submitted for final reviews. We will
have select individuals review the sites and come up with a "Best Overall
Site". The winner/winners of the Best Overall Site will receive a prize for
there efforts as well as being noted in board postings etc...
Ask your questions and seek comments and
feedback on the Newbie Board.
Help each other and throw around ideas.
