Newbie Project #20: Build Your Own Link List w/stuveltje

Having your own linklist can be very beneficial and if you participate in this project, you will end up with your very own functionable linksite!

A linksite is just a big/small list of(directory) where adult sites from other webmasters will be listed and of course everything else you want to list of your own. Free hosted sites, free hosted galleries, search engine pages and can be possible content for your own linklist. You are the owner so you decide which sites you want to list there. In return (because you list other peoples submitted sites) you get a linkback to your linksite on every site which is submitted to your linklist from other webmasters.

Building a linksite isn't that hard , well it isn't when you know how to start or what script to use and that is what this project is all about!

There are options on running your linklist such as listing all the sites and links manually or using an automated linksite script.
(The hardest part to having and operating a linksite is to get traffic to it, but that is a point which will be discussed later in the project. Building your own linksite doesn't have to cost any big money to build and operate!)

In this project we going step by step to set up a linksite with a free linksite script.
A couple of things you need to think of before you start a linksite!
1# Which domain name you are going to use (buy a new domain or use one which is already in search engines )
2# Which name you going to use for your LL ( easy names are easy to remember for the porn surfers)
3# Are you going to make a niche LL or an general LL? ( for a starter I would choose the general)
4# The layout of your site
5# How many and which categories? (when you first start a LL never use to many categories, you can always make more categories later)
6# Which sponsors you are going to use?
7# What extra pages you going to make to fill up the site and give your surfers more to look at and bookmark your LL and keep them coming back.

Now believe me this is not the only thing you have to worry about it will be much more:) But this is just an introduction!

The free linkscript we going to use is from Gossamer Links only this version has more option which are not available on the net.

The linksite script will have these options:
1# Automatically rejection and acceptance email send ( you control what is in the email)
2# Blacklist on email, ip, domain, words
3# An extra confirm page ( this to bugger the auto submitters, a submitter has to click an extra page to get his site thru)
3# A rate page - every link listed in your data base can be rate by the surfers from 1 to 10 (also an extra page to put your sponsor banners on)
4# A detail page for every link listed in your LL, which means again extra promotion to put banners up and the detail pages are set that way the search engines won't see them as double links on your page.
( example: you have 1000 links listed in your LL, every site will have an detail page, which means your LL will get in the search engines with 2000 links, the more pages the better in search engines.)
5# A cool page ( a page where you can list the best sites, although the sites with the most hits will automatically get on that page, but also that one you can control)
6# New page ( page where new sites also get listed and again controlled by you)
7# A search option
8# A submit page ( but we are going to put a webmaster's page between that one)
9# Random link (script will pick one link out of your script to show the surfer every time he clicks)
10# Bad link email - the surfer can click that link and an email box pop up with the link which is bad and can send it to the linkowner)

Now this script has also an modify part where the webmaster can modify the link he submitted ( We are not going to use that option because I think as an linksite owner you have to tae control about some parts yourself and a webmaster can email you when something is wrong when he submitted the site.)
In this script we will be working with index.html and index.shtml, and also with calls ( a code to pull info from an other page)

We will not be starting this project with the installing of the script! We will start with all the preparation which is needed to make the site complete once the is script working. The script will be the last part we will work on. This just to prevent coding mistakes and a lot of stress to fix the mistakes. When your sites are ready for the script, everything will be in place so that your linksite is ready to rock and roll right away once the final install steps are done.

Project #2: Stand Alone Pages (Pt 1)
This project is designed to teach you how to building stand alone search engine pages to target search engines. This project caters to building a page for a specific niche or fetish and will be used to target spidered SE's only. Those that are not reviewed by a human editors.

Project #3: Stand Alone Pages (Pt 2)
As is indicate this project is a continuation of Stand Alone Pages, Part 1. This part ads the added feature of adding traffic filtering into your stand alone search engine page.

Project #4: Multi-Function Sites
If you want to cut your time and be able to have one site that can perform many different functions this is the project project that can teach you todo so. It's a great learning experience.

Project #5: Multi-Functional Niches
This project will teach you a new approach to site buildingand traffic manipulation. Here we will be building a site for listing into a general category. Then, filtering that general traffic into a more targetted niche.

Project #6: Building Top List Sites
Announced Live on the Script School Radio Broadcast June 28th, 2002. Archives can be found at Script School http://www.sciptschool.com. As the title indicates this project is to show you a few way to build Top List sites.

Project #7: Back To Basics
This project is a reflection of past projects that we have done for which we seek to keep our basic skills fine tuned and not forgotten. There's many ways to do things but everything starts from the basics of sales and marketing - getting the surfers attention then guiding them to a membership

Project #8: Newbie Toon Special
We are going to be concentrating on designing a successful toon site! No matter what "type" site you make (free site or AVS site for example), the basic layout needs to be done in a way that appeals to the surfers of that site in order to make the sales the site was intended to.

Project #9: Hub Pages
Hub pages can be essential in "filtering" your traffic and MAXIMIZING your earnings. There is many ways to design hub pages. One of the tricks is to do what ultimately will suit YOUR needs the best. The purpose is to get the surfer to a site they are interested in and get yet another chance to sell a product and/or service and make some money off the clicks. This is nothing more than a filtering stage where you get to decide if you want consoles, blind links or whatever.

Newbie Project #10: Utilizing an FPA (full page ad)
This project is going to focus on the different uses and styles of full page ads usage on your site/s. There are many different locations as well as combinations that can be implemented.

Newbie Project #11: Filtering
This project is based on traffic filtering. Although as with many things on the net, there is not an exact formula that works for everyone, the basics will be presented. Here is my definition of traffic filtering: Traffic Filtering - the act of separating incoming general traffic group into specific traffic groups with a specific purpose.

Newbie Project #12: Getting the most from your Index page
This project is about getting the most out of your sites index page. Since the Index is the first thing anyone sees on your site, maximizing its potential is a very important detail many overlook.

Newbie Project #13: 404 Pages
A 404 page is what is displayed to your surfers instead of the standard "can not find file" message that you see at many websites. If a person has not set up their htaccess to direct those surfers to their 404 page, they are losing clicks! So, by utilizing a 404 page, many people gain traffic they didn't even know they had.

Newbie Project #14: Creating your own Full Page Ads
The purpose of this project is to explore a few different methods that can be used to create your own FPAs. These self created full page ads can be a very useful tool in your advertising arsenal. Having full control over the designs of these allows you to customize the sponsor link presentation to whatever you feel your traffic will be most comfortable with.

Newbie Project #15: Creating a Business plan.
One of the first steps in doing good business is having a plan in place. These plans can vary drastically from one person to another as everything depends on the specific areas one is in. With that in mind, the original effort of actually creating a business plan for people to follow in this project seemed to be a bit obsolete. Instead, I opted to go with a few templates to help people formulate their own business plan.

Newbie Project #16: Group Hub Project
The purpose of this project will not only be refining our hub building skills but also to get some practice in the art of link trading. What a person learns in this project can be very beneficial in their future site building and traffic building endeavors.

Newbie Project #17: The Blog Project
The purpose of this project will be wide ranging from starting your own blog and all that is involved with that to how to benefit in different ways from having /running a blog site. (A special thanks goes out to TDavid for all of his invaluable advice and assistance with this project.)

Newbie Project #18: Creating a webmaster page
We all know the value of a click but sometimes we tend to overlook certain things such as other webmaster viewing your pages or surfers that are "wanna be webmasters". This might be a small number of your visitors but just like a good exit link, one should try to maximize the potential of all traffic! With that said, this project will be all about creating a webmaster page's for your site's.

Newbie Project #19: FPA management system
Full page ads (FPAs) are a great advertising tool that is available from most sponsors. Utilizing these advertising tools can mean more sales if done properly and just as importantly, tracked (at least to a point of knowing what is being promoted and where)! With this in mind, this project was created to help simplify the original process to begin with.

Build-A-Thon
Welcome to Adult NetSurprise Newbie Build-A-Thon page! We are always looking for ways to help people stay motivated and the Build-A-Thon is meant to do just that. We all realize this business runs 24/7, 365 days a year, and with that in mind it's not always possible to put in your hours 9-5, M-F and wait for success to come knocking on your screen. You have to be ready to put hours in whenever you can find them. That's the origin of the Build-A-Thon: People putting in hours together on weekends and keeping each other company, while asking and learning things all thrughout the weekend!

We have recently changed the weekend only participation so that everyone has a chance to get involved!The Build-A-Thon will now officially kick-off at 5:00pm central time on Wednesdays and will continue through 10:00pm central time Saturday each week. Anyone and everyone is welcome! Typically the more the merrier. We will start a new thread at the kickoff...it will simply be "Build-A-Thon 00/00/00" (Whatever the current date is).

As a BONUS to those that participate, we have created our own link list for Build-A-Thon sites, NO recip necessary (your site must meet the standard list rules otherwise). It can be found here: http://www.adultplaces.com/porn/freexxxporn/

We only ask a few things of you to make it fair to everyone:
1. You participate throughout the week. Please don't pop in late Saturday night and toss a link up hoping to get it listed for free on the link list.
2. Any sites that you are working on for the Build-A-Thon, be kept in the BAT thread, i.e. requests for reviews, comments about the sites, etc. Sites that can't be found under the Build-A-Thon thread won't be considered, because that's where we will be looking for them. 3. To be fair to everyone we will limit submissions to 3 sites per week.
