Basic httaccess

The below information is for
a very basic htaccess file.
A good host will answer any questions
you might have reagrding their servers
STEP 1: Put all of the below
code into a blank file and name it .htaccess:
STEP 2: After you paste the above coding into
your newly created .htaccess file, you
will need to edit the url that
it is pointing to. Change the http://www.?.com/404.html
above to the
desired url of the page you want your 404 server to call to point to.
STEP 3: Upload this file to your base directory (where your index page is)in
ASC11
You also have the option to put a different .htaccess in each
different subdirectory.
STEP 4: Test the operation of the files. Type in your
url with a file name that you know is not correct and make sure your htaccess
file is working properly. If it doesn't work, write your host and ask if they
have certain specifications that are required for the file to work
properly.
STEP 5: Watch the extra traffic come in and make you
money :)
